Topic Wiki

Since Vanilla Reloads are no longer able to be purchased with a CC at CVS or any other location, this thread is for historical purposes only.

If I would write where VR is available, by tomorrow it will never be available again. So instead, we will nominate this thread as the place where everyone can complain that there's no VR, and everyone will be happy.

And it was good.

Regarding OneVanilla (OV) and other Vanilla branded GCs:

1. These are not Vanilla Reloads. You are in the wrong thread to learn about them.

2. As long as you are here, they no longer work at WM to load to BB at the cashier or ATM, nor will they work there for MOs. Your best bets are to use Evolve (there is a thread for that), Amazon Payments (there is a thread for that, too), or use them for regular spending in stores or online. At some grocery stores customer service desks, you can use OV to buy a MO.

Whats the most anyone did with chase on first spend without causing fraud alert?

Call the # on the back of a Freedom card (800-524-3880), and once in the main menu IIRC press 4 then 3 then 2.

$4 fee/ 504 points.   .0079 or almost .8cpp.  If you get more than 1 cpp value, then it's worth it financially, but is it worth your time and effort.  You said it's easy for you to get them, so you're probably making a few bucks each transaction.
500 points @ .01 =  $5.  Less the $4 fee, you make $1 per card.  At 10 cards, (the new cvs limit)  that's $10 for the visit.
You probably get more than 1cpp value, so each visit is worth even more.

So I went in to CVS to buy another 5K$ of VR and the manager came out and said that lost prevention office has called them and asked to limit the sale of VR to 1K per day. I said the corporate limit is 5k, the manager acknowledged it and said he can only sell 1K per day due to  loss and prevention office call..

Has anyone else get into this issue? Is it worth calling the corporate customer relation?

so CVS is losing money when I buy this card? so why do they sell it?

Loss **prevention** means to prevent a loss from occurring. Basically in case its fraud, they don't want to risk losing as much money.

I have bought it every week over there same store same amount..
no issues or charge backs..  wondering what triggered it and if there is anyway to fix it.. can I call the corporate and reverse it or talk to the loss prevention?

so it is just a fraud prevention? It does not make sense..

besides I was calculating  CVS pays something between .2 to 2% fees on CC.. that is 20$ to 100$ on a 5000$ amex charge.. and they only charge 4$ for VR fee... how does it make sense for them to sell Gift cards?
