I have bought it every week over there same store same amount..
no issues or charge backs..  wondering what triggered it and if there is anyway to fix it.. can I call the corporate and reverse it or talk to the loss prevention?

so it is just a fraud prevention? It does not make sense..

besides I was calculating  CVS pays something between .2 to 2% fees on CC.. that is 20$ to 100$ on a 5000$ amex charge.. and they only charge 4$ for VR fee... how does it make sense for them to sell Gift cards?

They make the 3.99 afaik,  i guess their cc fee is under that.  But managers are happy either way as they get promotions if their store does high in sales.

I guess at .2% 5000 is 20$ish and we pay 40$ in fees so that should cover it..

anyway googling around I found out more or less what loss prevention does.. it is for security, internal theft, frauds etc.. has nothing to do with business practices..

the corporate limit on prepaid cards is now 5000$ but the store can apply any limit they want...
I am suspecting the loss prevention manager was not up to speed about this rule and blow torched the manager at that store for no reason and now the manager is scared to do it and does not want problems..

I called Customer service and they contacted the store and are looking into it..

I have bought over 15K last month in the same store not sure why all of a sudden it got flagged this month.
should I contact an executive at corporate? this is a made up limit that just inconveniences the customer.. I can still buy 5k but I have to go there everyday of the week.. ridiculous.

well I am not in NYC and that store usually has more than others.. so I don't see why I should not try to fix this mistaken limit.

Anyhow after talking to corporate customer relation, the managers at the store... the Lost Prevention agent is the guys causing all the headache for no reason. Corporate does not do anything about it, but the manager is trying to work it out with the LP agent.
I wont be going back there, I went to another CVS and spoke with the manager and she said she will order a bunch for me for next delivery.

depends what kind of return you get on your credit card from CVS.
Also depends how much your time is worth and how much time you end up spending on doing it each month.

if you use a card that only gets 1 ppd then not gonna get much return. If you have a card w 5 ppd (blue) much more worth it.

Thanks was just wondering why they're all running out. I mean I needed to spend 11K on 3 cards but didn't think the rest of Lkwd also did!

for spending limit using amazon payment and free gift cards (chase free gift card) is usually preferred because they are free..

Some people make 5% return on VR so that makes it enough for them to run after it.. also now that the limit is 10 cards per day, 2 customers can clean out the whole store from this cards.. usually each store get 20 cards each week so the store managers should get involved to order more..
they do make money on it and looks good for the branch to have higher sales.

I use AP for other things, and Chase GCs I can't get becuse I live in NJ. From my understanding the stores in the Lkwd area get 200 Cards a week.

theres a few cvs in nyc that require cash only but I was able to score 1k worth of  VRs at a nyc cvs, getting tougher and tougher

You can usually speak to the manager and get them to agree to take credit cards. There's one CVS where they kept telling me no, I kept calling the manager and he kept authorizing it for me. They all know me by now.

Was just in CVS buying MVD's and the rep at checkout asked me if I'm sure I want those and not VR's, showing them to me and adding that "people like you have been buying these" 😜 wander which kind of people he's referring to😉
