Since Vanilla Reloads are no longer able to be purchased with a CC at CVS or any other location, this thread is for historical purposes only.

If I would write where VR is available, by tomorrow it will never be available again. So instead, we will nominate this thread as the place where everyone can complain that there's no VR, and everyone will be happy.

And it was good.


Regarding OneVanilla (OV) and other Vanilla branded GCs:

1. These are not Vanilla Reloads. You are in the wrong thread to learn about them.

2. As long as you are here, they no longer work at WM to load to BB at the cashier or ATM, nor will they work there for MOs. Your best bets are to use Evolve (there is a thread for that), Amazon Payments (there is a thread for that, too), or use them for regular spending in stores or online. At some grocery stores customer service desks, you can use OV to buy a MO.

I just found a CVS in Brooklyn last week with loads of vanilla reloads. they limit the payment to only from 1 CC.
does anyone know how Barclay's classify this transaction? do they treat it as a regular purchase or as a cash advance?

i'm seeing mixed reviews online about buying VR at duane reade. I went to one in the city, 52nd and madison, and they automatically told me no cash. Only one cashier there.... Has anyone been successful lately? wanna share the simcha?

AFAIK Duane Reade is cash only for VR

i was in monsey over shabbos, on sat night i went to a cvs and bought quite a few vanilla gift cards. i was so surprised that it worked :). downside- had to find a different walmart (the next day) because the one in monsey wouldn't let me load the gc to my bb. all in all- was a great night :)

Next time try the second one for $499.99. My theory of what happened, you have to swipe ID for and GC purchase of over $1k and cashier didn't know how, or that part of system was down. Cashier would prob let multiple transactions of $500, and $499.99 as well...

I had an instance where they were able to scan my license but said the VR system was down and could not activate the cards.
