would applying for a Hyatt status match make a difference if one would wait until 2013? would that enable me to keep the status longer?

Hyatt doesn't match outright. They give a 60 day challenge.

I called the number for the diamond line and they said that they match.

I already applied for the card and got it, would it make a difference if I get it before my statement posts? Also, I was asking whether or not the amount of time that the match lasts would be longer if I applied in 2013?

Wrong! HYATT gave me a DIA challenge match to Hilton Gold that I had points on from CCs but
absolutely no nights or stays

The way StatusMatcher works is the only things posted are reports of people successfully matching.
That does not mean that there are no more options.
You can add your experience if you have one!

Just tried to status match hgpd to spg plat. The guy said they would do a challenge but for now he'll give me Gold status because he had a really good cup of coffee this morning. No documents requested. I've never had a paid SPG stay.

If it's any comfort, they don't match anymore - they give you a challenge. And you don't even get the status temporarily during the challenge, like you do with Hyatt.

Here's the kicker: you don't even need to match an existing status; just call SPG and ask to enroll in the plat challenge...
