look into VITA program, They offer some kind of course/certificate.

As a former instructor for VITA, they only offer classes in January and its for simple tax returns only.

CMIIW. You can take the basic, intermediate or advanced "course" anytime online, see link above. "Classes" are only in Jan.

Then its something new. When I use to be a teacher for them it was only in the beginning of tax session.

I dont know how certification works but the study material is available in a decent looking format.
