Depends on a lot of factors.
Just a possible itin though even just Kalalau would be good enough for me:
Sunday, arrive in LIH, start trail and camp at Hanakoa.
Monday, hike to Kalalau Beach and camp the night.
Tuesday, hire a boat to take us back to civilization. Fly to KOA, find a bootleg volcano tour to the current eruption.
Wednesday fly home? 4WD to Green Sands Beach, Waipio Valley, Mauna Kea 4WD routes, etc?
Might also be fun to take the 4WD road in Waimea to look down to Kalalau.
All this sounds really amazing, but...
- I don't think there's any way I could go to Hawaii without my wife
- I can't take off from work twice in the summer, so I can't go just to teach and then go with my wife as a separate trip
- Most importantly, I'm still trying to figure out how to pay for this - I'm still in 'points debt' from the Alaska trip. So again, I'd I go, it'll have to be a vacation for us too.
For me (at this point) the best option would be a couple days teaching and the rest if the time vacationing.
So now I'm all confused
. Help!
