Looking for software that lets me see another pc

I have a remote desktop connection, but that just lets me control another computer. However, it shuts the screen off when connected.  I am looking to be able to see exactly what is on the other computer screen on my laptop.  Basically screen sharing, but that is not choppy.

Is this over the internet or a network?

It is in my house so I guess over a network?  I will have a pc in my basement and would like to see what is on it using my laptop while at home while my kids are watching whatever they are watching.

I use that when I work remotely and when I log into my office computer from home, the screen in the office goes goes blank.  So if I am logged in from my laptop at home, you can't see the screen at the office.  I want my kids to be able to see whatever they are watching, but I also see whatever is on the screen at the same time.  Is there an option to do that in windows?

With a tablet, Splashtop Streamer is free, and you could see what's happening on both.

They do have a deskyp version, but that costs money.

This program is ran thru an app. I find the Web based RDP to be not as app based

With most programs - there will be a popup somewhere telling them that you're watching - some of the vnc programs don't have that issue

"radmin viewer" is great software. You download software for the host (it's called radmon server) and you download for the guest. (it's called radmon viewer) it works great.

No popup, but if on win7, when radmin is started by the (admin or what) to access your pc, the theme changes to classic...

@chff - Correct, but that can be adjusted on the settings. It is very uses friendly.

How well does it work for video?  Lets say my kids are watching a youtube video and I am watching there screen through my laptop, what is the video quality like on my laptop (choppy, the same...)?

I see now that Splashtop now has a free Windows version of the App. (It used to be only for tablets, and for Windows they only had a Business edition that was quite costly)

Their app is unbelievable.  When your looking at the other computer you could see clearly even videos that are being streamed, as if you are on that computer, its not choppy at all.

A popup does come up when you log on, but just a popup for a second...

On an iPad, GoToMyPC doesn't work with an external keyboard, TeamViewer does
