Sandy hook and Hurricane Sandy = same name

Amount of people that passed away (26) = gematria Shem Hashem

The initials of Sandy Hook Elementary School is SHES (6) = the tragedy happened on the 6th day of Chanukah

I'm not sure this would be consider poronus though, pornous generally means a larger scale disaster.

There is also the issue of bechira here, don't if we can say it came for a reason with bechira.

What makes you say that? I would assume any major event should fit under that catergory, But definitely a good question.

The idea of Kol Pornous might be the cause for an incident. If that is correct, lechora it would only apply to something which is missing a cause - an act of G-d. Something that has a cause (bechira) would not need an explanation, and thus might not be because of am yisroel.

Actually, it was 27 people killed excluding the gunman, his mother is also human.
