AAdvantage extend time to qualify?

Anyone have experience with calling the aadvantage desk and AA extending time to qualify for elite status if u r close? I'll fall 2700 miles short of platinum unless I do a mileage run, (which I have on a 24 hr hold)  I have needed January travel if its extended.
