Laptop not starting

Can anyone here help. My laptop suddenly won't go past the the windows starting page matter how many times I try to reboot

Try booting into Safe Mode

Hit F8 while the laptop is starting up until you see the Safe Mode option

thanks I tried that got stuck while it was scanning the files

one of two problems.
1 - virus
2 - hard drive is failing.

if option 2 then be careful the more you try, the more likely you're causing damage to the drive and will be more difficult to recover data

call Lenovo they should either send you new drive or tell you to send in the laptop. Tell them you had a technician look at it

Virus usually wont get stuck in middle of booting safe mode - it will either bluescreen, error out, or start with viruses or start normal.

You can try recovery partiton but 90% chance the hard drive is failing.

Hard Drives go bad faster than you can possibly imagine.

If its not a physical issue you can try doing a system restore back to a previous day when it worked. If it's a virus it will start working now - If I'm right however you will still have issues or recovery will not work

ok lenovo tried all they know over the phone from login from previous sucessful restart to safe mode to trying a full system reboot. Everything did not work. So I am shipping my computer to them will let you know the outcome. Thanks for your help
