renting a car in poland

I plan on being in warsaw for 24 hours on a stopover and i would like to rent a car. Officialy one needs an international driver license to rent a car in poland, however im currently in israel and unable to obtain one in time. Will they really ask for the idl and prevent me from renting the car wo it? does aybosy have any experience with this? And by the fact that the rental is just a single day does that make any difference? Thanks for any input

Not neccesary. All cops can be bribed by 50 or 100 zloty anyway... You can look up my trip report about pessach 5772 for some reference.

I used a local company called Joka with a NY license. it was in Krakow but I think they have branches in all major cities in Poland
