Best Way to Take Cash to Israel??
« on: December 29, 2012, 11:16:47 PM »
Any Ideas how to take $$ to Israel. Going there with the family and Everything in Israel is soooo expensive. Dont feel comfortable shlepping so much cash with me, what are some safe alternatives. I can go open a TD Bank account, and then take $$ out of an atm, but It will probably take a week of two until the debit card comes and I dont have that time?

Thank You

You can take up to $10,000 no problem. Otherwise use your SP world card.

IIRC TD bank gives you the debit card on the spot.

Bec everytime you want cash, you just write out a check and cash it at the money changer.

You can take up to $10,000 no problem. Otherwise use your SP world card.
Or your SP non-world card.

Yes on the premium accounts which require a $2500 minimum in the account.

As far as I know TD prints Debit Cards for you on the spot.

Nope

SP is the best option in my opinion. No forex fee, good rate, never had any problem with the card not reading here in Israel (did have a problem in France, where they use cards with chips), and, since i assume most of your expenses will be travel related, you'll get a lot of double miles.

Also, as said here up to $10,000 cash is not a problem legally...

Sorry, you guys are wrong. TD does NOT charge foreign transaction fees. The only fee they charge is a $2 non-TD ATM fee, which is waived if you have a Premier Checking account (as mentioned).

I guess thats what I meant...Using a TD card to take out money is not free.

...but no so bad either, if you're taking out, say, 2,500 NIS. Beats Chase any day.
