Office Shredder
« on: December 30, 2012, 09:10:15 AM »
I am looking to purchase a shredder for my office. Any suggestions? Currently we are in the process of digitizing our files. The cheapest quote I got to shred all that paper was $900. I'm assuming it would be cheaper to purchase a good shredder that we can use in the future as well.

$192 to be exact. I'd pay the extra 12 bucks to get it from amazon prime with amex-but again, that's just me

Do you know how long it takes to shred? Even with a $200 shredder, it can handle 20, 30 sheets at a time. Doesn't sound like a big deal, but it is, and you're going to pay someone $10 an hour to do it.
We were doing this, ended up with a service that charges $40 a month, 2 months free, and took 10 boxes of paper to start with (another month).
the convenience is unbelievable, and they shred it right in the parking lot.
My advice - negotiate with the companies, they want your account, and they sell the shreds so they make money on both ends.

MarkS - I know, and hope you're right. But yours is still in the box, and the 160 reviewers who beg to differ already tried using theirs.

ID theft alert
Take a look
If they can find my ID after that, they can have it. (And I have lifelock :) ).
Look, I don't want to come off as an idiot, and its not for everyone, but if you're digitizing an office, which I am in the process of doing, its simply not worth your time and money to do it yourself, or to wrestle with scanners that need the paper put in just so or they jam and won't work.
We spent a lot of money on shredders before doing this, if I can ave anyone else the trouble I'd like to try.
