« on: June 02, 2010, 11:27:11 AM »
Is there anyone here going or considering going on this wonderful tour named "ALONG THE PATH OF THE SHTETLS OF PRE-WAR EUROPE TO THEIR DESTRUCTION IN THE HOLOCAUST" lead by Rabbi Moshe Weinberger?

I was searching the ANA site for Economy star alliance reward tickets on the following dates for this tour:

August 15    NYC  - Warsaw, Poland (Sunday morning)
August 23    Vienna, Austia - NYC    (Preferably late afternoon or evening)

It shows that nothing is available!!! Does this make sense?

If I was able to get a flight I would tranfer starpoints to US airways and book through them. Can anyone help me with these flights? Thanks

Lets see now U want Aug which is Peak travel season and non-stops to boot

My only suggestion would be to see if you find something that isnt non-stop so say into FRA or MUC  then into WAW on LO or LH, youd have to keep playing around till you find something, just have PATIENCE as you will need it and start by say with JFK using any *A Carrier into Europe if nothing then EWR then PHL, once you find  a flight to Europe then youd have to start with from that hub to WAW , and do the same for coming back

Just dont limit yourself to LO non-stop to WAW and OS out of VIE

& OS is very hard to find anytime

wanted to add if still no luck then start with a flight to Europe from another city say BOS and then youd have to check for a flight to BOS from LGA,JFK,EWR,PHL 1 Pesach I flew CO to BOS and AZ to MXP then TLV.

It will take alot of time and Patience but the only way is by working the system

 PHL-FRA-WAW

 PHL-FRA 4:15pm-6:10am US # 700

 FRA-WAW 7:40am - 9:15am LH 3300

looked for 2 tkts I assumed the OP was gonna be traveling with his wife

cant find a NY-PHL so youd have to get to PHL on your own and couldnt find anything back into PHL. Found VIE-ZRH-MIA but no way from MIA to PHL or NY on 8/22 or 23

You could go from ewr or jfk, and via muc, zrh or fra or cph.
As an insider trick, try via dus (lufthansa), and from there to popolski.

Thanks for all the help. If I am able to find the flights is is there a way to book it before the miles are in the US Air account? I would not want transfer the Starpoints and then find that there are no available flights. How do you people handle this?

Yes, you can call US and have them put the itinerary on hold. I believe they will hold it for 3 days, but as Dan has reported the hold can be extended by making minor changes to the itinerary.

I think to US it usually takes about 3-7 days. See if you can find anyone who did a recent transfer for the processing time. There is a thread on FT that has transfer times posted by users, I will see if I can find it.
