none that I know of, besides Ive been on too many Over Sold flights that either left with empty seats or took on standbys to continue trying to play the Game

best advice is to purchase the cheapest tkt you can and HOPE

the day before a long Holiday weekend or after is prime time but this past weekend when I was flying I didnt hear a single request for Vols, I did constantly hear those who Vol Thank You but Please board at your designated slot as we wont be needing any Vols for this flight. I heard this at PHL,SFO,ONT and DEN

getting bumped may become better, the US is trying pass a law that if you get bumped without voluntering the airline should have to pay u more $$. check it out on Voisizneias.com it was in yesterdays news.
(maybe aussiebocher can post one of his "fancy" links, I'm on a mobile device can't do it)

The rules are only if you got involuntarily bumped.
The airlines can offer whatever they want to get volunteers, and they usually do get enough volunteers.
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

I had someone that would tell me (in the USA) which flight to book (fully refundable) where she new that the bump chances were very high, in case I wouldn't I could cancel my ticket.
the pc systems changed so its no longer applicable.

My max was 3 with DL yrs ago in EWR on a non-refundable finally flew out on their next to last flight that was a very nice $1200 days work

JetBlue sent this tweet out yesterday:

JetBlue: http://bit.ly/ccRmtA Interesting article about overbooking. There's a good reason why JetBlue is least likely bump: We just don't overbook!

Very interesting. Southwest is the worst which is weird because they seem to be one of the most customer friendly airlines.  ???

By the way, what is the typical $ airlines give for involuntary bumping?

Worst in what category?
The only list SW topped, was enplaned passengers. Didn't realize they had the most.

Actually not the worst, but the most of both voluntary and involuntary denied boardings.

Yup.

Their high numbers most likely have to do with their high(est) enplaned passengers.

Try seatcounter.com

its not what it used to be, they were showing me 0ed out flights when the Carriers site was willing to sell me 8 seats at disc fares

also after you check  a couple of flights they shut you down for the rest of the day, and that includes even if you get the message to try again which counts as 1 search

They may not be what they used to, but people are still currently using it successfully and getting bumped.

I take it you mean who dont want to fly at all but only want the bump, since by the time it shows a few seats left most likely all the ElCheapos will be gone

Ive also seen alot lately where a flight is almost 0ed out then is and a couple of days later its pretty wide open. So I wouldnt rely on anything to gauge a flight that is more then a few days away

Agree, but you can use it very close to the flight, to know when to come to the gate early to volunteer first etc..
