I know bigger people that prefer spirit because the pay $40 and get the Big Front Seat. It is essentially a non lie flat J.
What do they get when Spirit offers a bus for transportation?
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

Like I said earlier, I just flew Spirit for the first time this Friday.

As someone who lives in PIT I am used  to flying in regional jets all the time. These seats were not small. Much better than the  domestic economy seats that I sit in 100 times a year.

How many times did that happen? But regardless, as Freddie said:
80%-95% are no big deal, just another LCC. It's the times when things go wrong, which could even be as low as 5%
So people that know spirit take into account that they will have little to no recourse.

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2017-12-12/your-spirit-airline-flight-is-now-on-time-almost

I actually flew Spirit LGA-FLL several months ago, but would didn't buy the ticket in advance. I had a ticket on DL for the same time, I walked up to the Spirit ticketing counter, and only after I made sure the flight is actually departing (and that I was able to get a front row seat) did I purchase that ticket (saving a few $$ over buying online) and cancelled my DL ticket.

I would say with Spirit it's not only about their on-time performance, but about what happens when things go bad.

This is a game changer for me.
I generally don't fly spirit into/out of FLL because of the cost of getting there from MB.
Now that they will service MIA I will definitely be flying spirit more.
This will definitely impact Frontier.

Anyone aware of no cancellations within 7 days of the flight?
I wasn't aware and now I cannot cancel the flight, they will only give me travel credit minus 79 dollars per ticket!
Anything to do about this?

No. The regulation only requires a refund beyond 7 days out.

@Dan, ever flew spirit?
If not, try it once, so that we can get a full fledged trip report. :)

Anyone ever had issues with size of checked luggage? I paid for 1 checked bag already and I see Spirit says W+L+D has to be 62" or less. My 28" amazon basics hardside spinner is listed as having dimensions adding to 62.6".

They don't measure checked luggage.

Anyone know how they assign seats when you're not paying for seat selection? In the past I've had no problems - they seated 6 of us together in 2 rows no problem automatically. But I'm think that in those cases I checked in more or less right away when the 24hr window started. I have a MS flight I won't be able to check-in for until after Shabbos and I'm thinking if they give out the seats as people check-in I might have a problem. Any insights?

It can be YMMV, but ime, I like to check in as close to the flight as possible (I feel I get closer to the front this way), we are 5 and have always gotten seats together.
