Driving into Pittsburgh Sunday night (after flying TLV-YYZ). I should get to Pittsburgh around 11 oclock. I assume there is nothing available to daven/eat at that time? I need to be at the US steel building downtown at 8:30. Where should I stay so I can daven in the morning? Anywhere where I can pick up food for the day before driving downtown?
Any help is appreciated

There is a kosher bakery in Giant Eagle at 1901 Murray Ave in Squirrel Hill open 6am-midnight.
There are minyanim in Squirrel Hill and downtown.
@farmbochur should be able to chime in with times.

No hotels in Squirrel Hill, nearest is probably Oakland or the Waterfront. There are Airbnbs and some locals frum people rent their basements in PIT.

Can try Ubering food from

Downtown minyan has shachris at 7:45am Mo/Thu and 8am Tu/Wed/Fri. They also do mincha followed immediately by maariv at 4:30pm
Yeshiva early minyan is 6:50am Mo/Thu and 7am Tu/Wed/Fri.

There's a Marriott downtown that's right across the street from downtown shul and ~10 min walk from US Steel building. In addition to the food options in Sq Hill, there's also this (if you're into macrobiotic/ultra healthy food) https://www.facebook.com/pg/VegOutCuisine/posts/
A lubavitch guy who prepares meals out of the downtown shul kitchen.

Thanks for taking the time. 745 Monday minyan with a10 minute walk is probably too tight for an 830 prompt start.
Where is the yeshiva minyan (and don't say in the yeshiva ;))?

I have a friend who will spend the next whole week in PIT for medical treatments but will have plenty of spare time.
Is there anything interesting or remarkable that they can do/ visit?

  • Location: The value of a forum such as this one is not in that one can post a question and receive an answer, but in that the question has most likely been asked before, and the answer is available to him that will but only use the search function.
  • Programs: 1. Search on google. 2. Search in the right board of DDF with a general word or two. 3. Read the wiki. 4. Read the thread. 5. Ask away.

Remarkable that they can do/ visit?
You know this is Pittsburgh we are talking about right?

Just checking.

Most remarkable thing is a box that goes up and down a hill.

there are hiking/biking trails, some downtown/hockey arena spots. A Google-Pittsburgh location near the medical areas, and other tech spots. What field/age range -- maybe someone can show him some places. Can your friend have sushi, meat. any restrictions?
