These kosher restaurants, bakeries, and ice cream stores in Squirrel Hill have all closed in just the time since I went to high school there:

13.5 Aaron and Ari's used to be open full time but is now only open for dinner only and just on Sunday and Tuesday. Double-check on that as who knows when they will figure out that it's not worth having a storefront that's only open 6 hours a week.

Leaving mediocre Milky Way as the sole survivor...I don't think they even bother to open on motzei shabbos, typically a jam-packed time for a pizza shop in most cities.

theres lots more
the meating place (that location was a constant flow of restaurants)
shiffrin had an ice cream store for a few years (is that leibel's?)
dont remember other names. (i think our high school years overlapped a bit, though in different buildings)

pgh was never able to support more than 1 fleishig, 1 milchig, one bakery, and 1 kosher store at a time and even that....

This thread is by far the most depressing thing I have read on ddf. I clicked on it as there were posts today and I know someone who is going for Shabbos... I was going to refer him to thread, but don't want to spoil his Shabbos.
At least the Pirates are over 500 this year (but that will prob last as long as an avg. Pitts restaurant).

Golden China was Fakiro (Uri I think? The brother of the awesome chef @ king David's).

I seem to recall Golden China taking over a treif restaurant... Could be mistaken. I still have nightmares of the flies swarming us at Golden China, while we picked out the little pieces of chicken in the "whatever leftover shreds we could find to stick into a meal and call chinese" special.

Weird, I should have been there then but I have no recollection of that?
Who owned it? What type of cuisine? How long was it around for?

I get the point that there is nothing to do in Pittsburgh itself, but I have a large family some 8 married kids each with a bunch of their own. We are looking to rent a large home in the area that is driveable to a minyan, so we can all meet half way between NY an the Midwest. It does not need to be in Pittsburgh but somewhere in the outlying areas. TIA

Yup.

Pizza is caramelized onion, eggplant, and extra sauce.  A fortune but delicious.

Any kosher food places in PIT that would deliver to Duquesne, PA area for a business lunch?
I  have meeting in the area and want to order food to be delivered there.
