Value difference WITHIN Star Alliance
« on: June 03, 2010, 03:29:25 AM »
Is there a value difference between USAir miles and CO miles?
I checked for a coach ticket TLV-HKG return and the Rep. in USAir wanted 80K miles while the CO Rep. needed 60K miles for the EXACT same LH flight!
BTW, on BOTH airlines they said I cannot buy 1 way only.

Any advice?
Just for the reference here are the flights:
TLV - MUN June 22, LH689
MUN - HKG June 22 LH730
HKG - FRA Aug 2 LH739
FRA - TLV Aug 2 LH690

Which *A DOES allow one way redemption?
Thanks!

Miles and More (75% of a return tix)

Diamond Club BMI

Aeroplan air canada on some routings

Maybe a few more, which I'm not into: ANA, thai, asiana, Tam,...

Unbelievable - in CO you can get Biz for 90K...

Why is it like that? Could anyone explain me the difference in short.

Thanks!

Super, all those you mentioned will give you one way redemption with their miles on their flights.
What carriers will let you use their miles on a DIFFERENT *A one way flight though?

Thanks!

-First off I'm surprised anyone would let you fly via Maturin, Venezuela  ;)
(Might want to recheck those airport codes)

-I know BMI allows one-way *A redemption.

-Also United charges 60K for TLV-Asia direct but 90K via Europe.  Continental charges 60K either way and US charges 80K either way.
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

If I had to take a guess I'd say he meant MUC- Munich.

Yup, just having fun.

To answer the OP's first question, of course there's a value difference among *A carriers as every carrier has their own rates.

a few yrs ago Thai flew in but hasnt for some time thats for TLV but UA has both Emirates and Qatar as partners so its probably 60k on either of those, which of cause wont help since no way to get there from TLV

Could be TK (turkish) would be 60k depending if turkey is considered Europe or not, but then who wants to fly on TK or thru turkey now

Sounds like CO miles are the way to go.
