Cancel Airline Ticket

Can anyone give me some knowledge or previous experience on how to cancel an airline ticket once its booked?

(Example: I have a AA flight to London booked and thanks to Dan at his best with tha LAN deal as posted on http://www.dansdeals.com/archives/3856 i can get it now with British Airways for $300 cheaper)

I believe it costs $200 to cancel that ticket.
It may be worth it if you net $100.

I booked a ticket from that LAN deal, now the same ticket is pricing $100 cheaper- PLease let me know if you find any better options.
