theres no set tax in dollars. Its all % so i can't tell them how much but i know its a lot so if the op is a bit throw off bec its a bit much then they will realize that its not bec its usually a lot    But google found this: In NJ the sales tax is 6% and then the Federal Government surcharges approximately 4

278 is not crazy.  Having 4 phones with share everything and there all smartphones and 4 gb will easily run u that size bill

You need to reread the OP. He didn't say his taxes are $278.

Taxes are usually a total of 10%.
