Any good way to get upgraded on Alitalia?

I am scheduled to fly on Alitalia from JFK-ROME-TLV in March. I don't have any miles to speak of and no miles cc. Is there a possibility of asking for an upgrade to business and getting it, either for free or for a small fee? anyone have experience with this with Alitalia or airlines in general? Thanks alot.

The first thing I would do is call up the airline directly and see what they offer.

No long hold times, they pick up right away and are very helpful.

firstly superspeed, emak, and moose, get a life. settle down! you guys are an embarrassment to people in general. Yes, it might be annoying then shut the F up and dont get involved, or say your useless crap and then leave!

now that i said that.

Flightguy, try calling the airline, and if you get an answer your not happy with call again, and confirm that answer is truth. Sometimes diff reps have different answers. I just had this with my dads flight. One rep sai its completly sold out another said there is upgrades availible, and she said how i can upgrade. It doesnt hurt to call or even in the airport ask...

Enough has been spoken here and I'm sure FlightGuy and any others learned to search and use other features. No reason to keep it going.

I did see that link to that page last week, and when I called the airline they said they didnt know anything about it, they never heard of it (could be that rep had no idea) thanks though

It is a valuable lesson. I played it last night, took me 12 calls but finally got what I wanted.

It might take some time, but in the end is usually plays out. Have fun
