Had a similar issue and the "security department" is the way to go.

I would get someone's name in that department, perhaps try and talk to him over the phone. If that doesn't work they have a fax number and you should write a letter explaining how it was years ago your now older, smarter, more responsible and you would like to rent again with Avis for business purposes etc.....Or something along those lines.

Then follow up and they should remove you eventually.

so this is crazy I contacted avis security department on since it was so long ago they really do not have much information on this and they dont feel comfortable removing me. the problem is now hertz put me on there do not rent list and hertz is saying they got information from avis, so I just called the head security guy in avis(who I was dealing with) and he is denying contacting avis. now what should I do.

contact someone else in the security dept and go with a diff approach. make it like its your first time calling (dont know if they have notes  that u called in recently) . If you can take care of avis then hertz should go with that
