The awesomeness of the EVO makes up for the size and weight. I dont even feel the weight.. come on... 1GB Snapdragon processor!! Never ever lags!
Before I got it I was reluctant because it didn't have a physical keyboard. Was considering getting the Samsung Moment (also android and touch, but includes a slide out keyboard).
Ended up getting the EVO for myself and the Moment for my wife and I am so glad I went down that road...........
But you cant deny the weight factor.
It depends what is most important to you. Many people are willing to pay extra money for lighter laptops even though the specs may not be as good.

Ash: My wife couldn't care if I got her a even a simpler phone than the Moment. Fact is, the moment will not be outdated so fast either...
Aussie: its all about eichus not kamus. Posted this on my evo...

I come across a few videos online showing guys poking the EVO screen with various types of objects, and the result was scratchless.
I'm trying to decide if it's really not necessary to put a protective screen on the phone.
Anyone can confirm?
