I was just in WAW and Security made me take off my yarlmulka and put it through the x-ray. I never experienced that before anywhere. Did anyone else ever get that or was it Polish anti semitism?

Technically you need to remove all head coverings. You probably encountered a rookie or someone ignorant. No need to pull out the anti semitism card.

Reminds me I was Davening Shachris in UIO just a few days after 9-11 and two airport security guys came up to me and tried to take my Tefillin off my head claiming it was some kind of security threat.
BH they left me alone after I gave them my explanation.

1. Interesting though that it never happened to me before. Where did you find these regulations?
2.There were plenty of agents around, I don't know why you would venture to such an assumption.
3.I didn't pull it out. It was something that never happened to me before, was therefore wondering if other's experienced the same or if it was a Regulation or Polish Anti semitisim, Definitley a more plausible assumption than the guy being a rookie. I did protest taking off the yarlmulka at first.

Happened to me in PHX (or was it TUS). Now I usually just take it off, which usually triggers the TSA telling me I don't have to...

Did they make you put it through the x-ray, or did they just ask you to pick it up?

Not recently, but for a while they made me just pick it up for a second to "look" underneath. hasn't happened in a long while though.

I've been asked a couple times around the world.
Tell 'em it's for religious reasons and they just pat my head.

I had already passed through the metal detector when he told me to put it through the x-ray. Picking it up is one thing, but why the need to walk through the metal detector without it and have it pass through the x-ray, what are they checking for in the yarlmulka. Why didn't they x-ray my shirt etc;?

They once wanted me to take it off at LAS, but told them for religious reasons i wear it, and they were ok.

My wife was once pulled over for a pat-down in a rural airport, she explained she was wearing a wig and they were ok but when the agent patted her head and felt her braid and clip under the Shaitel she freaked out, i guess she assumed my wife was bald and couldn't figure out what was hiding under the wig.

In FRA the Guard wanted an explanation what my Tzitis were, i explained it to him and he said have a nice day, HOWEVER he wouldnt allow me to go through until i said "GUT MURGIN"

A Different time i started removing my shoes at FRA and the security guard yelled, "Put back on your shoes, what do you think this is, AMERICA?"

When she hesitated they said are you wearing something under it, and she said not really, so they let her go

my funnest was probably in DXB, they wanted a full complete explanation for everything I had. "Religious purposes" didn't work hey wanted a detailed  explanation for everything. I had to explain my yarmulka, Tzitzis, Teffillin, every single Sever and Kuntres I had, the works. by the time I was done he probably knew more about Judaism than HelpMe

when i was in WAW with my wife the supervisor made my wife take off her snood and me my yarmulka when i pointed out that all the while, others were going through with baseball caps and one even eith a big straw hat, he said if we would all dress normally we wouldnt have all our issues. u can decide for urself if it was anti semitism or not.
