Amex not letting you accelerate pending points

I have signup bonus points pending with amex. In the past, they have let me accelerate those before the first statement closes. Now, they are saying I must wait till first statement closes to accelerate them. Is this a new rule?

What I have been told in the past is to borrow points from Amex and you have a year for them to be replaced without having to pay for them.

Officially that's only if you had the card for 6 months.

By me its totally YMMV, once it was a few days after spend, sometimes statement close, some times just a couple of weeks after spend. I cant figure it out

For the plat 100k offer, I spent the $3k, paid off my balance, called them 2x and asked them to expedite the pending points. They told me that I have to wait until the statement closes and then they will post (one of the CSR offered to allow me to 'borrow' up to 60k points). I sent SM and bingo - points were expedited! Now onto hoping I will get the 50k gold MR...

Don't mean to rain on your party, but for all those who did 2bm's for the Platinum and PRG, IMHO your best chance for getting both bonuses is to wait for the computer to give it to you and not have your account flagged by a rep.The less eyeballs on your account the better.
Unless you got all 150k advanced then good for you! ;D

I got both in a 2BM, had 150K pending and got it pushed through.
