I lost 40 pounds in 3.5 months.
i beg to differ. check out tim ferriss, he has a book called the 4 hour body that i have personally used and lost 48 pounds in 3 months without exercise
The question is how much did you weigh before the diet, it makes a huge difference. In order for a post to be helpful in a diet conversation, please note the percentage of total weight, it's the only thing that matters - not pounds.

Same here.
Stick with water/seltzer.
What do you think about adding a 1/6th of OJ or grape juice into the seltzer?

Not ideal, but if that's the only way you won't drink soda/pop then so be it.

Why not try squeezing a lemon into it? Or even fruit infused water?

Empty calories.  Squeeze some fresh Limes, Lemons, or Oranges into the seltzer for flavor instead.
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

Do squeezed oranges have less calories than OJ?

I already don't like what I see with this tim ferris guy, he very obviously wrote his own wikipedia page, sounds like a scam artist to me. But let me dig a little more.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Timothy_Ferriss

"The 4-Hour Body was an immediate bestseller and debuted at #1 on The New York Times Best Seller list.[8] It peaked at #4 on both the Wall Street Journal and USA Today's lists, and was one of Amazon.com's top 5 bestselling books for December 2010 and January 2011.[59][60][61] As part of the press for the book, Ferriss appeared on Dr. Oz as well as as a guest on ABC's The View.[62][63]"

Who else writes that but your own PR guy.

"In 2008, he was named Wired's "Greatest Self-Promoter of All Time."[97] "

That's not exactly the kind of guy I wanna hear advice from.

Stop it ;) I just am not gonna change my lifestyle and listen to a guy who clames to have a 4hour body and a four hour workweek, it just seems like his next book is going to be the 4 hour cure to cancer. If it worked for you - Kol Hakavod.

@Emkay, I just ordered the 4 hr. body from the library. As Wired mag says he is the best self promoter of all time, I just couldn't resist!

I went from 223-183, over several years. I exercise a lot more and eat a lot more fruit. Cutting out beer helps too, but I do enjoy it so. For me, exercise is the key. I have a HRM which is great because now I can workout until I reach my goal, 600 calories a work out or so. I try to do that 4 times a week. remember one pound is 3000 calories. So it takes 5, 600 calorie workouts to shed one pound. So, if you excercise 5 days a week and do not change your eating habits then you can loose one pound a week, which is reasonable and healthy. If you cut out sugar and alcohol you will probably double that.
