Interesting, indeed, so an explanation why wearing a scarf helps (if you're wrapping it around the lower part of your face...).

TL:DR - A guy doesn't like the bed wedge he's given for bad heartburn so he tries eating "upside down" for about a year to exercise his esophagus muscles and stop the heartburn and it worked!

Longer version excerpted:
Quote
I had been experiencing gastroesophageal reflux for a number of years. The symptoms became dramatically worse immediately after an endoscopy in 2016
Quote
even after several refinements, the bed wedge remained intolerable.
Quote
Eventually, I devised the following regimen with the intent of providing the LES with some resistance training. The resistance was provided by positioning my head below my stomach in a kneeling posture. This required food being swallowed to be pushed up an incline.
Quote
Sixty-eight days after beginning daily LES exercises, I noticed that I could bend over at the hip and pull weeds in my garden without acid running into the back of my throat.
Quote
For about five more months I remained ambivalent as to whether the exercise would fully correct my problem and eventually sought help at the Cleveland Clinic. A 24-hour pH and manometry test was done, which yielded completely normal results. I then discontinued the use of the bed wedge and now have no symptoms that I can attribute to gastroesophageal reflux.
Quote
I continued to do the exercise a few times each week for a few months and then less frequently. I have not done the exercise at all for the past two years with no relapse.

The fact that this worked for him:
1. Might be a fluke.
2. Might be specific to the particulars of reflux and not apply to (e.g.) 99% of reflux cases.
3. His upside down eating regiment was really hard and many people with reflux might not be able or willing to follow it, or they might prefer existing mitigations like medication or a wedge.

Absolutely.  No idea if his experience will be replicable but I thought the idea of the article was interesting enough to post about. That's why I wrote about being the dp at the end. If there's nothing "on the market" that solves your issue or doesnt do it in an agreeable enough manner don't hesitate to try and think of other solutions, they may work for you and perhaps will open up the door to many others seeking similar relief.
