Facts
The flu vaccine causes more deaths per year than chicken pox.
The direct injection of RSV immunoglobulin, commonly known as the "RSV vaccine" would prevent 16x more deaths than the flu vaccine does, but is too expensive.
There is a vaccine for the plague, and that is why it is no longer an epidemic.
Ebola is caused by vaccines.
There is a vaccine for autism, but it causes mumps.

Opinions
Vaccines do not contain thimerosal, a known toxin.
If you snuck up on your neighbor's kid and cut open his skull, you would be arrested.  But when brain surgeons do it, and charge hundreds of thousands of dollars, it considered "medicine."
99% of vaccines do not cause autism (HT JJ1000).
Every pedi has seen healthy kids become sick physically & mentally hours after a vax (HT Baryochai)
Vaccines cause cancer, infertility, astma, adhd etc (HT Baryochai)

There are verifiable numbers about the percentage of these communities that don't vaccinate. I don't remember where I saw them, but they do not compare favorably to the general public.
Please post if you find it. If there are hard numbers than why isn't it in any of news articles?

why?
Have you read the news? Everyone knows DD is a jewish site.  Some good publicity wouldn't hurt.  But our own comments would. Therefore blocking comments would be good

Serious question, if I put together an article for DDMS from some family who are doctors just presenting some history and info about vaccines.

My grandfather did preliminary research for Jonas Salk on the Polio vaccine, and I think it can be very informative.

Good idea or terrible idea?

Probably has never been a better time than the present with all these terrible headlines in the news bashing the orthodox community.
Depends how its written, if its just history+research I don't see why anyone should be against it (it might flare up in the comments, Maybe it should be locked), if you point out a message IE "Debunk the anti vaxxers" some will love it others would hate it the view count will definitively jump.

I think anyone with a platform that uses it to encourage people to vaccinate is a good thing.

Dan often responds to those complaining about "off topic" post, that it's his site and he writes about what he's interested in.

From a business/PR perspective it may be a harder choice ( because you'll have to deal with all the "why don't you write about X also" comments).

I do also agree that closing (or extra strongly moderating) the comments on that post is a must.

Read the whole thread:

I forget where to find it, but the percentages of vaccinated kids in frum communities is lower than the general population. Interestingly, or sadly if you will, the numbers matched up to "Hollywood liberal" type cities.

Dan has always run the site under the "my site, I write what interests me" rule. Why should this be any different? I, for one, would be interested in reading.

I think it's a good idea but personally I'd try to address peoples fears and not mark them off as quacks if you want them to read sincerely and listen.  Because everyone else already is vaccinating anyways.      Plus I think it would be extremely interesting to read and a lot more real to people when you connect a family member so close like that.   Though I'd probably turn off the comments :)

Realized what I said made it seem like you davka should address peoples fears- which I don't think necessarily - I guess I just meant *if* you're going to get into that aspect of things at all I wouldn't just shoot down anyone with concerns.  But obviously that's just my opinion.

Hebrew Academy of CLE just banned all unvaccinated kids unless there's a bona-fide medical reason that they can't be vaccinated, in which case they won't be able to attend school during any outbreaks.
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.
