Facts
The flu vaccine causes more deaths per year than chicken pox.
The direct injection of RSV immunoglobulin, commonly known as the "RSV vaccine" would prevent 16x more deaths than the flu vaccine does, but is too expensive.
There is a vaccine for the plague, and that is why it is no longer an epidemic.
Ebola is caused by vaccines.
There is a vaccine for autism, but it causes mumps.

Opinions
Vaccines do not contain thimerosal, a known toxin.
If you snuck up on your neighbor's kid and cut open his skull, you would be arrested.  But when brain surgeons do it, and charge hundreds of thousands of dollars, it considered "medicine."
99% of vaccines do not cause autism (HT JJ1000).
Every pedi has seen healthy kids become sick physically & mentally hours after a vax (HT Baryochai)
Vaccines cause cancer, infertility, astma, adhd etc (HT Baryochai)

Is it 40% effective against H3N2?

I heard from a pediatrician that they are estimating about 40% this year. They also said that while the flu can cause complications they have never seen any flu complications in vaccinated children.

interesting because the sign I saw in the Doc office said that 75% of pediatric hospitalizations were unvaccinated. Being that about half of the population is unvaccinated that should only get you a 25% severity deduction.

Why would that be if the dominant strain is H3N2?

If the vaccines stops x% of people from getting the flu and y% of the those getting it from being hospitalized, then what is the reasoning for not being vaccinated?
Only on DDF does 24/6 mean 24/5/half/half

Because if x and y are really low numbers for your specific age group it’s not necessarily worth the trip and the sore arm.

We value risk vs reward differently. Let's say it is 25% for x and y. I would still get the vaccine for myself and kids if they were still kids.

Ok. I vaccinated my kids. They were by the doc anyway. Doc doesn’t give vaccines to adults so he wouldn’t give me one. I will not be making any additional effort to get one. I am much younger than you.

Is it 40% effective against H3N2?
The early estimations of vaccine effectiveness are based on reports from South America where the flu season starts much earlier.

"The flu vaccine used in Chile, which included a match for the dominant H3N2 virus, was about 50 percent effective in preventing hospitalization. The shot used in the Northern Hemisphere includes the same virus makeup as the Southern Hemisphere vaccine, so experts hope the formulation might be similarly effective in preventing severe influenza illnesses."
https://www.washingtonpost.com/health/2022/10/28/flu-season-2022-cdc/

Why would that be if the dominant strain is H3N2?
Since the vaccine in some past years was less effective against H3N2, a different subvariant of H3N2 was used this year.

The chances of a healthy person in my age group being hospitalized from the flu is so low to begin with, that a 50% reduction isn’t too meaningful.

Now how about not getting the flu or getting the flu but not as severe?

I don't know your age, but I had 2 neighbors in their thirties who were hospitalized for pneumonia complications from the flu. I understand that is anecdotal.

Also, what are the chances of being sick in bed for a week?

...or even just feeling like cr*p for a few days?

Also, I sure we all know of cases where one family member gets it and the whole family gets it.

Interestingly, my family had an appointment for someone to come and vaccinate last Friday and my wife came down with the flu earlier in the week. She was the only one in the family to get it and the rest of the family got vaccinated Friday. A neighbor just had the entire family sick with the flu at once.

I'm curious, did you read the article or just the headline?
