debit card with collision insurance

hi i have a friend from the uk looking to rent a car and his english cc doesn't give him insurance in the us. Does anyone know of a debit card for uk citizens with collision insurance? Any other ideas?

you can either buy from the rental agency (its expensive though) or you can get from access america, their # is 800-284-8300 (dont know if they cover for people out of county) they charge $9 a day.

If he's enough of a friend - make him a secondary on your starwood card.  I'd have to ask to confirm with him as the story goes a ways back - but I believe I have a canadian friend who was a secondary on an amex - and filed for insurance.(might have paid 20 for theprimary though)  Unless theyve of late enacted something about it only working for US citizens...

IIRC there is an English website that sells CDW on either a monthly or annual rate. I had the same problem (a while back) and AFAIK there isn't an English cc that covers it. I got myself an additional card from a family member, and it was fine.

I couldn't remember the exact site, but I just googled and I think that this is the one - insurance4carhire.com.

Disclaimer: I never actually used their service, so I don't know exactly what they cover and what they don't, or how reliable they are, so use them at your own discretion... :)
