To get to the train: Leave the terminal through exit 01 and it is directly on your right. You can buy a ticket from the automatic machines outside the station entrance.
Please note that the train only runs during the day and not at night. Check the Israeli rail  website in advance if you are not sure.

If something goes wrong there is always the bus which is a good backup....
my thoughts exactly, although shleping 3 suitcases and a hand luggage is a bit much for me...

I agree. Trains are much easier then buses. Also on trains you can stand so after a long flight it will much more convenient to take the train. Also this leaves every half hour. So if it really works it make going to/from the airport so much easier.

Are you allowed to take it? As it was built in Shabbos, might need to wait.

too late.
Mini TR
getting to the actual train took about 10-12min including 2 elevators and an escalator.
Ride took 25min and you come out at arrivels.

Bottom line
If flying solo it's a great option!
Flying with kids/baggage I wouldn't recommend it
There is no place on the train for big suitcases

Thanks, really no luggage racks on train, like they have on other trains?
Was the train full, was it a problem getting into  the train station and on to train? Do you think i would need to book in advance?

only has space above the seats big enough for a hand luggage, also getting on the train there is a step and then another 4/5 steps to go the upper/lower deck
The train was I'd say 30/35% full
Most of the pax (that I saw/spoke to) weren't heading to the airport some just there for the ride and others live near the airport eilad tlv..

Can you do it on your phone after clearing customs, or do I need to print something?

You should be able to, I think its based on your Rav Kav number. The English speaking phone number for it is *9025 or you can call Israel Railways and they will direct you to a Israeli number to call to reserve.

you can do it on your phone. in Jerusalem they had a machine where you scan your rav kav and it prints your ticket.

Update: I tried using the phone system. Additional Instructions: Press 2 when you for English but the whole system is not in English and if you dont know some basic Hebrew you wont be able to reserve a voucher over the phone.

Yeah to order the voucher which I am not sure in necessary you also need a Rav Kav order the free ticket to get past the "turnstiles" in the station.
