Train רכבת:

Starting from September 2018 there is a direct train line between the airport and Jerusalem's central bus station which is at the main entrance to the city.
Train runs every half hour and cost 17 shekel per ride. I think there is a discount if you buy round trip.

To get to the train: Leave the terminal through exit 01 and it is directly on your right. You can buy a ticket from the automatic machines outside the station entrance.
Please note that the train only runs during the day and not at night. Check the Israeli rail  website in advance if you are not sure.

You need to have a voucher associated with a Rav Kav, you make the voucher/ reservation can do it online or call a phone number.

The actual ticket can be purchased at the station.
So if I'm a visitor with no ravkav, I can't take the train?

By the train ticketing station you can probably pick up a Rav Kav or ask them.
Depending who you are traveling with that might be the better option.
If your by yourself then get a paper ticket and then try to slip past the "guards".

1) I saw online someone say that a ravkav is no longer needed
2) just arrived. The train is not working today.

Voucher longer needed.
So I guess yes you can just buy a train ticket directly from the machine.

Yes on Friday/ Motzei Shabbos the train does not run.

Hi. We are on the train now from airport to Navon. So far exactly as @jose34 described.  Nice clean train. Almost empty.  A few steps up or down once inside the double decker train car.  Elevators at the TLV station.  Bought tix with Capital one visa via automated machine no Problem. 17NIS pp.

Quick question — is there a shul or shteeble close the train/bus station or walking toward Crowne Plaza? I need to say Kaddish and shkiah is in about 25minutes so looking for a place that has mincha b’zman. Thanks!

I think the closest option would be the Rashbam minyan factory in מקור ברוך neighborhood, about a 7-10 min walk towards Geula.

Still susposed to be free; who said they were charging at the station?

https://www.rail.co.il/en/pages/updates/jerusalem-naovn-opening.aspx
Jerusalem to the national railway track grid and opening up the Yitzchak Navon Train Station in Jerusalem From Tuesday, 25.9.18.

As of the inauguration date of the line and for a 90 day period thereafter.

That means the free period ends December 25.
Can anyone please confirm its still free?
