Menashe Sofer (Frum Service): A few NIS more than Nesher.

Bus:
Option A:
1. Take Egged 947 / 950 from Central Bus Station to Tzomet El-Al.  Busses run Approximately every 20-30 min. from 6 AM to 10 PM. Takes ~40 min. Price: 25 ₪.

Train רכבת:

Starting from September 2018 there is a direct train line between the airport and Jerusalem's central bus station which is at the main entrance to the city.
Train runs every half hour and cost 17 shekel per ride. I think there is a discount if you buy round trip.

To get to the train: Leave the terminal through exit 01 and it is directly on your right. You can buy a ticket from the automatic machines outside the station entrance.
Please note that the train only runs during the day and not at night. Check the Israeli rail  website in advance if you are not sure.

Israel Railway English site.

Walk: 0 NIS Takes about 13 hous and 47 minutes give or take a few depending where you start.

It cost me 17 shekel from J-m to the Airport?
Should be 17 RT
@5AM the bus will for sure be faster, what about at 8 AM or 5PM?
Obviously not. Not saying that its quicker, just that 24hrs isn't such a necessity.

I am bringing a challah knife as a gift and I'm wondering about security on the JM - TLV train. On the flight I can simply pack it in my checked luggage but does anyone know what type of security check there is on the train? Would I be able to bring it along in my bag?

I would assume better not to bring it but YMMV.
I was there a few weeks ago and a guy tried to put a small pocket knife through and then called him over and asked for his ID etc...
They let him go after a second...

So not sure if this is the poster above or not but I was just helping someone with a bunch of bags on the way to the airport, he was bringing a "challah knife" turns out it was more like an ornamental knife hard to claim it resembled a challa knife anyways the guy was held up for a while and not sure what happened(I had to catch my train), my suggestion to anyone bringing a knife is to take the bus from a stop outside the bus station so you dont go through security,  at the very least you will be held up which is quite upsetting before a flight.

Pro tip for train: if you are coming with suitcases or just want to save 5 minutes sit in the last car which is the closest to the one elevator. You can know this if you are facing the train the the last car will be the car farthest to your left. Chag Sameach!

so sorry it's the farthest to the right if you are facing the train. Also take note that the door that opens is the opposite side from the one you come into so you should not pile your suitcases there, people are not too happy about that...

Either a large van or 2 cabs. I'd price out both and go with the cheaper.

For large van, I always use Zion  (052-384-3221 or email him at ziontaxi@windowslive.com). For a cab, Bar Ilan has always been the cheapest (other than the private drivers who do it as a side gig)... Be aware if you take a Bar Ilan cab, you'll need to walk to a different lot than the main one, as only 1 taxi company can do pickups from the taxi level, and they are a rip off (over 100 shekel more than Bar Ilan IIRC).

Thanks, Shaul Yaakov.  That's a big help. I'll send Zion a note.

Ok. Friend went yesterday and said that it wasn't fully operational. Guess it's back online.
