Starting from September 2018 there is a direct train line between the airport and Jerusalem's central bus station which is at the main entrance to the city.

To get to the train: Leave the terminal through exit 01 and it is directly on your right. You can buy a ticket from the automatic machines outside the station entrance.
Please note that the train only runs during the day and not at night. Check the Israeli rail  website in advance if you are not sure.

Israel Railway English site.

nesher would be cheaper, no?
Yeah for 2 people it would probably be 120-140 shek, but you have to deal with all the stops they make. And I need to make this trip 4 times. 180 is about $10 more for the convenience. Plus, if I can work out a deal with the driver, that would be great.

If your not taking a lot of luggage to eilat you can take a bus to the modiain train station and take a train to the airport. It would cost you about 30-40 shek pp

We're not taking much luggage anywhere lol and that is a good price, but it probably also means a bus/taxi in Yerushalayim to the tachana. So it's bus, bus, train. Probably just as long/annoying as Nesher. thanks for the idea though

Well you cant have it both ways, you have to choose between comfort and price and it dosent get much cheaper then 180 for a taxi.
In regards to eilat, did you consider renting? It can save you the price of the taxi to the airport, flight cost and taxis in eilat. When you factor in all the traval time to and from the airport it dosent take that much longer to drive.

True true.

Did not consider renting and flight is already paid for. Got a pretty good deal on flight+hotel, so I went for it. Driving is like 6 hours-ish? Give an hour to get to the airport, 2 hours in the airport and an hour flight, is still conveniently faster than driving. (Hotel has a shuttle from ETH.)

Driving from and to jerusalem is 3:15/3:30 per side IME.
Thats what I avraged in the 7-8 times I went in the last year and a half.
If you got a good deal, dont feel bad. Enjoy not having to drive and free pretzels. Also the eilat cabs arent that expensive the bus inside eilat is less then 5 shek iinm and some things you can walk to. Drink alot of water and have fun.

Usually yes. They can be like that at times and not answer. Just keep on calling, and calling, and calling.. I once had to call about 20 times before someone answered.
