We're is the cheapest place in Brooklyn to take the five hour course

I took it at some place in the Lower East Side, cost around $40, took about 2 hours and I slept for part of that.

I did it online. cost about $25. took a few days (you could pause and continue) I did it whenever I had a few minutes.

Back when I did it, years ago ( ) , I went to some Russian place near Kings Khaivay, and I pay zem IIRC $35, I came after 80% of the video was already shown, on some tiny screen that would belong on a grandma's kitchen table!!

I found this to be easier and I was able to do it on my own schedule. There are no tests or anything like that.

That is a different course altogether, it's the defensive driving course. I think what the op wants is the mandatory 5-hour driving course, required to take a road test.

Once it's been mentioned though, I should add that you can download a script that auto advances this course. You still have to pay some attention though (this is where 2 screens comes in handy), as they make you type in a phrase or answer some questions about yourself periodically to make sure you're actually taking the course. The quizzes are all fairly common-sensical.

In defense of the op, if he is looking for a 5 hour DMV course for the permit, then he most likely either never heard of or knows very little about the 5 hour defensive driving course.  To go yeshivish - or shidduch lingo, he is in the parsha of learning to drive so to him there is only one 5 hour course.  For those of us who have been driving for years the only applicable 5 hour course we ever need to know about again is the defensive driving course - i.e. we are in the parsha of defensive driving so that is what we think about.  Both sides forgot the other version even existed.
