Even that didn't work for me. I had $6,000 in giftcards, and they refused to send me a check. They insisted they can only refund to the original payment method (CC).

Small just decided to jump into the game last month.

I only did 3 x $ 1000

I have one more 3K GC sitting around. my next purchase I was going to go for bigger.
Starting out i wanted to take it slow, see how my bank reacts etc.

Wondering if i should do it without the GC

So my 3 months of free overnight shipping was about to run out and I cancelled it a few days before they charged me for it. Of course, I now got approved for some more CCs and might want to continue buying coins. And ideas if I can get this offer again? Or should I just find a friend who still has it and buy GCs through their account?

I'm skeptical about that. I used GCs at the mint as recently as November/December, and I didn't see any posts in this thread since then saying it doesn't work. Remember you have to register the GC before you make a purchase in order for it to work.

So today i spoke to a rep in amex-for the gift cards.. first time i didnt get an indian who asked me to spell my name 18 times.. anyhow instead of issuing a refund check to my name- he did a DIRECT DEPOSIT into my bank!!! i couldnt believe he was doing that for me... he gave me the option... i never knew that before.. here i was makin checks sendin them to diff address, and makin pple crazy to deposit them for me (im in israel) and he said it should only take 15 days as apposed to the usual 20 days... just thought id let pple know bout this...

I would hold my breath until it happens. I was promised a check in 20 days, and then after 20 days I was told that I was actually mailed a check, and it never happened. I finally got my refund to the original payment method (Chase CC) 45 days after initiating the original refund request.

Well i bought it with AMEX- so maybe thats a difference? i dunno... but honestly im still holdin my breath for my other checks that i was supposed to receive already. But its amex im dealin with.. not uDiapers. so ill have better luck. and besides.. by the time i get my refund on my card, i prob would have used my points.. so i guess thats ok also.

Amex will deduct the points even with a zero balance leaving you negative...

I don't think that would work, how many points are we talking about? Maybe earn them via spending?

oh sorry lol.. its from a signup bonus, i only spent 1000$ (not much here) so you mean i should spend the 1000$ from the gift card... but ya i dont have what to spend 1000$ on...

If they charge you for the $50,000, it'll be $0.025 per point, or $1,250.

If you sell the giftcard to someone for $950, you lose $50 and you can keep the points.
