B) Many Online retailers will require the address registered and the only way to do this is over the telephone.

When ordering Amex gifts on the amex website, use code, "phone", during checkout to remove the card fees. shipping still applies. good for meeting spending thresholds.

I was trying 2 buy an Amex giftcard with my citi AA amex card, but Citi told me it will b charged as a cash advanced, but if i buy it with my Citi AA Visa card then it'll b charged as a regular purchase.
Does that make sense?

Don't buy these with Citi, period.

They seem to always charge CA fees.

Just bought a 3k amex GC with a citi thank you preferred card. It's a visa. Bought it 12/6 and its still pending. Maybe I should be but I'm not worried - makes no sense that it would be a CA.

It was a CA in the past. Amex might have changed the coding for this. Can you check your Citi account and see what this purchase is coded as?

My 3k Amex GC purchase is still pending (from 12/6!) as of this morning. I received the plastic and successfully sent 1K through AP. Also, my CA line is 2,600 so if this were a CA it should have been declined off the bat, no? Anyways, we'll see.
