Who said flying on Shabbos is a problem? If you're taking off on Sunday and landing after Shabbos being that you're above 10 tfachim throughout Shabbos, you were never koina a shvisa so there shouldn't be any tchum issue. Furthermore the plane is owned and operated by goyim and I doubt rov of the flight are yidden, so that would make it muttar to be on board on Shabbos.
I guess you would use trains on Shabbos ...

On CX only roiv of First class are yidden.

Passenger would have to be careful not to open/close lav door.

Even if one is machmir like the Chazon Ish, Kiddush/havdala is less important than issur melacha.

מלח is salt and sailor, although pronounced differently.

Train as in subway, i.e. within the techum.
So, you prepared to do that?

True story - a rabbi in melbourne flew on chanukah. middle of the flight, him, his wife, and kid, went into the bathroom with a blanket. they covered the fire alarm, and proceeded to light the menorah. 25 minutes later, there was already banging on the door. but they had finished and they casually went back to their seats. :)
ask chabad ppl from melbourne it's quite a known story, and pretty typical of the rabbi in the story.

heard it and I heard the Rosh absolutely destroy it based on so many levels of halacha.I think he gave us a shiur just to prove how ludicrous it was to light on a plane in the bathroom.

there is nothing impressive about this story but the sheer stupidity portrayed. I sincerely hope that it never really happened.

I flew on Sunday and five minutes after the seatbelt light came on before the flight and after all the announcements there were still 5 ppl standing. Yup all of them were frum. The entire plane was waiting for them.

+1, don't get why they did not just make a shaliach to light for him.
