Hyatt points expire?
« on: January 14, 2013, 05:17:14 PM »
Got an email from awardwallet alerting me that my points expire soon. Is there any way to keep them active other than transferring from UR or paying for a room? I've read that they dont really expire but have many points and dont want to take a chance. On Hyatt website i dont even see an expiration date and i wonder where aw gets it from.

From Hyatt website- seems they could theoretically wipe them out. What's funny is that on the hyatt website itself i cant find any expiry date. Maybe AW fugures it out on their own from last date of earning points.

The Hyatt Gold Passport program may continue until such time as Hyatt Gold Passport at its sole discretion elects to designate a program termination date. Hyatt Gold Passport has the right to end the Hyatt Gold Passport program by providing written notice to then Active Members six months in advance. An "Active Member" is a member that has received Hyatt Gold Passport points or Travel Partner miles within the preceding 12 months. A member's Hyatt Gold Passport membership may be discontinued at Hyatt Gold Passport's discretion if a member does not record Hyatt Gold Passport points or Travel Partner miles activity during any consecutive 12-month period. All Hyatt Gold Passport points in the account will be forfeited at that time.

i got the below email from Hyatt that my account will be closed and all points forfeited if there's no activity, how can i create activity without a stay?

We haven't heard from you in some time. Actually, it's been over 24 months since there's been any qualifying activity with your account. Remember, your account will be closed and all points forfeited if there's no activity by March 31, 2016.

Check out various ways to keep your account active:
•    Earn or redeem points for stays at Hyatt hotels and resorts, on dining and spa treatments, and even for stays at any of 12 MGM Resorts Destinations in Las Vegas
•    Purchase points, combine points for a free night or convert points to miles
•    Become a Hyatt Credit Cardmember

So what are you waiting for?

I booked and cancelled same day, doesn't seem it extended them as it doesn't show any new activity since 2 years ago
