this cool, very recent viral Cover Letter
(for finance internship position) sort of fits here -- could work for a law internship:

I think it depends-- you can't have a job while in med school, whereas in law school, you can work full time and still be in class. The year and a half that I worked full time and was in class at night was extremely difficult. Also, studying for and taking the bar (while making trips at Target at night to pick up REDcards) :) were some of the most difficult months of my life. With that being said, I really only had one difficult semester of law school when I had 4 finals, and the rest of school was pretty straightforward and not too crazy.

I think the med school path is more difficult up until you get into med school. Once in graduate school, I think the law path is more difficult simply because it seems like once you get into med school, you're more likely to get a job than someone is to get a law job once in law school.

Exactly. If you're a doctor and mess up: worst case its wrongful death. So what are we talking? A couple mil? 50 mil?
I worked on deals as a summer associate that had more than that at stake (that is, at stake to be lost to the IRS if we messed up).

In any event, y'all should stop comparing residents with attorneys. We get it; training takes longer as a doctor. Compare working at a large law firm in NYC (or DC, or ORD, or BOS) to being a practicing doctor. And unless you are hard gunning neuro guy, the lawyers are working harder every day of the week.
Man, they take you far too seriously around here.

I just finished a conference call. Partner that ran the call is over 75 years old and is waking up at 5:00!

I've actually changed my mind on this one. Most people only work a few years in biglaw, and then go work at a job with much normaler hours. So I've started to think of the first few years as being a highly overpaid residency.

Lawyers win.

FTFY. Most people don't end up in biglaw in the first place (and prefer it. 35 hours per week for the win).
