Hyatt Free Night Award- How strict are they on someone else staying

Officially the free night award is non transferable. What are peoples experience checking in with out the primary?

I had no problems at the GHK. But now am looking into Park Hyatt Paris Vendome what are your experiences there if any?

Did you guys just book in your own name, then call to add a second person to the reservation? Then only have that second person check-in?
