The best way it to rent them, they even have 30 return policies in case you drop a class, etc.

The BEST site is dealoz.com it is an aggregator, sort of the kayak.com for books. It searches Amazon, abebooks, ebay, half, B&N (which actually once came out the cheapest!) and many more. Plus it also lists rentals (which I think are NOT cheaper, being that if you buy books and then sell them it will cost you less than a rental; with all due respect tp Dan). Additionally it will list available coupon codes to each listing which can add to your savings.

My wife just rented a $150 for $20 with free shipping both ways for the summer after a $7 coupon code.  Plus they give you an extra couple weeks to send the book back so you can just say the classes end earlier than they do...
Do you really think it's worth the hassle of buying and selling to save $20?

Of course it's not always worth it, but it's always worth looking into.

I can't argue with your last paragraph, definitely something to look into; but often not worth it.

Of course it's not always worth it, but it's always worth looking into.

It all depends on the books you need and their resale value.
Just bought/rented a couple of books for next semester. One book I was able to get for $32 (used-good condition) versus renting renting the same book for $30. I'm pretty sure I"ll be able to resell it for $3-4  ;)
Another book was $90 to buy or $20 to rent so I rented that one since i doubt I'll be able to resell it for $70 or more.
(Etc. etc.) (IMHO)

Still trying to figure out one more book I need. Buying price is $325 and renting is $115. My little research shows it has a high resale value but will I be able to resell it for at least $210 ?! Haven't figured that one out yet.

Just saved close to a $100 on Half.com yesterday. My experience with Amazon.com has not been a good one.
