While I was snooping around on some people's profile I saw that some had the "position" of a verified member, so I was wondering what that meant, and how can one achieve such a great position?

I seem to recall hearing from someone (I think it might have been Dan or aaa, when I met them in Cleveland) that there was some talk at one point of making a system for the Goods For Sale/Trade board to identify who's safe to do business with, but it never really took off, and was deactivated.

My guess is that when Dan reactivated the Karma system for use in keeping track of the main site deals, this "verified" thing came back with it. I suggest we should indeed go forward and implement this for the GFST board (since it seems like a pretty good idea). Maybe BAHayman can chime in if it's doable...

So... who are the lucky guys that you saw "verified" by? I don't see it by anyone...

The thought is to verify people to be allowed to post if the goods for sale section due to people having been scammed.
It's a bit too cumbersome though to actually verify so many people and I still can't assume responsibility so I don't think it will become reality. People should just learn not to buy or sell stuff to people that seem suspicious or new.

And who says the "reference" won't actually be the scammer's spouse/friend/etc?

If the reference has no ddf history it is a even bigger flag, but it is safe to assume that an active ddf'r can be trusted as a reference.

Personally I have been getting pm's from a few ppl about help with a chase issue which I resolved for myself, and I do not reply to new members because I have no way of knowing who they are and if they work for chase.. It would be nice to have a feature like reddit has that you can verify yourself to an admin and then he vouches for you.

Im my experience I have pm'd dan a few times and have not heard from him, it would hold up any sale process for days until waiting for a response.
