Anyone been to Mauritius? (Yes, I checked the wiki.)

Considering going from Israel in Dec/Jan without kids. Been in touch with Chabad there, who do some catering. Not cheap, but certainly possible for some meals.

Curious about any experiences, any/all info appreciated.

If this is not the right place to post for this, kindly send me on my way to where I should be.

As mentioned I have been in touch with Chabad there (who are Forum members, and seem to be the only people on that thread that have actually been to Mauritius), but now I can offer to barter them suitcase space for food, which I certainly should have thought of myself.

Thanks to Dan, this forum, and my concerted efforts leading up to the Aliyah, we have a small fortune of miles and points accumulated with which to visit the family and hopefully go to some fun places.

I've never personally been there but husband stayed there for months with a bunch of other young Jewish boys, as he was waiting for refugee status from the UN office there, after being smuggled out of Iran over their border into Pakistan.  Many of the cities he traveled through have now been taken over by the Taliban.  Also, from what he said, it's just SO poor and chaotic and smelly and gross.  If you want that environment you could go to India and at least they have cool cultural stuff.  As far as my husband is concerned, he says you should consider traveling there just like you would Afghanistan...there was a reason Osama Bin Laden was safe there! Remember Daniel Pearl was kidnapped and beheaded in Pakistan.  Someone would just need to pull you into a car and drive a couple hours to Taliban country.  I would consider Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Iran much safer than Pakistan because davka they have big tourism sectors and have authoritarian governments that seem to have better security control.

If you are going for business reasons and only in Islamabad, have your business contact hire you a trustworthy driver, bodyguard, etc., you could probably make it work but be forewarned about how it is there.

Is is possible to have kosher meals delivered from Johannesburg to the Place Hotel in Sun City? Is it a good idea to take day safari trips from Sun City into Pilansberg Park or or staying in the Park so much better? Any advice would be appreciated, thanks!
