fundraising ideas for shul
« on: January 20, 2013, 01:31:34 PM »
I have just been given the job as fundraising coordinator at my shul and would love to tap some of you for ideas. I would also like some input on getting a card reader so that we can take credit cards at functions. Which one to get (square, intuit, paypal etc) and which one has the lowest rate and most reliable.
Is anyone aware of a halo card which is a credit card that the shul gets a percentage of all purchases?

Take a deep breath... how much is average monthly total of expenses?

IMHO a yearly membership/seat fee, yearly fundraiser melava malkah or purim/chanukah party, & going around with a pushka at each minyan... etc. often cover most of a typical shul's expenses...

Good Luck!

All these things are done but more money needs to be made.  Building is old and needs constant upkeep.

Try getting a sponsor for a raffle, and get some small incentives for the children to sell tickets...

  • Location: The value of a forum such as this one is not in that one can post a question and receive an answer, but in that the question has most likely been asked before, and the answer is available to him that will but only use the search function.
  • Programs: 1. Search on google. 2. Search in the right board of DDF with a general word or two. 3. Read the wiki. 4. Read the thread. 5. Ask away.

Is that where everyone in shul dresses for a ball and you watch the Superbowl instead of dancing? I suppose you would need a pretty specific kind of community for that to work :P
