A friend of mine just got an iPhone with them. They gave him a choice. Att network or Verizon network. Not sure if that means it was a Verizon iPhone or just their network.

I've had Straight Talk for several months. If you buy SIM card only, you can choose either ATT data service or T-Mobile. Voice service actually uses both networks, and will automatically use the stronger network wherever you are located. So in effect, it's better service than ATT or T-Mobile standalone.

They use Tracfone which AFAIK does not use VZ they do have both CDMA and GSM phones though. Though I vaguely recall that on rare occasions tracfone will use VZ network .

If you buy a straight talk iPhone from Walmart it runs on Verizon I confirmed that!
My question is: straight talk told me if I get a gsm iPhone then when they give me a Sim it will run on gsm so can I just get any AT&T iPhone and put in the ST Sim? Does it have to be unlocked?

For right now they stopped selling the AT&T sims but if u can get one then an AT&T iPhone doesn't need to be unlocked .you will probably need to go to the unlockit.co.nz site to load the straight talk apn for data to work.

Oh and btw, on the ST site if you buy an android phone that shows the red map of coverage then it uses the Verizon network .last I checked there were 2 androids like that.

iphone 5 uses a nano sim not a micro. But you can cut the sim on your own without paying for premium for that sim. Unless the premium is because it's att service sim...

The reason they are expensive is that ST and Walmart stopped selling the AT&T sim cards. There are  different rumors saying they will and they won't be selling them again.
I'm debating on buying the iphone 5, but not sure if I should buy AT&T unlocked or ST Verizon. Resale value on the AT&T will be higher as it's unlocked gsm vs ST which uses Verizon, but apparently can't be switched to use on Verizon itself, so locked to ST.
I haven't figured out the best deal yet.
Anyone who knows about this, any input would be greatly appreciated.

Are you sure that Verizon factory unlocked phones can take a AT&T sim card?
On straight talk, it says only gsm phones can be brought in.
Do you know what would need to be done to a Verizon phone to allow it to work on straight talk?
I'm wondering if anyone knows how the Verizon service is on the ST iphones, If it's good, maybe worth it as it's good to go right out of the box.
I'm in NYC, but need something that I can take to the mountains in the summer.
I hesitate as the phones are same price everywhere, but resale value should vary greatly with a phone locked to ST, and from what I understand no sim slot to go to Verizon or page plus (not that page plus allows the iphone 5).

1. I saw on a different site (I think SD) how to save paying the tax for 30 day service. Purchase on walmart.com Set the address for Oregon. It doesn't matter about the address because thy email you the pin. Tada! It worked for me.

2. I bought a regular sim by mistake for an iphone 4s. Is it easy to cut it myself and if not, how much should it cost in stores? Also, any recommendations for a good store in lakewood? TIA

My bro tells me that there is no tax for straight talk anyways. Gotta go check that up.
