Had an interesting experience yesterday. Chase Rep told me that since I can't buy the ticket on the Chase Portal she can isssue me a gift card with the value of the points I have in order to book directly with the Airline.
Does anyone have experience with that?

That's very helpful actually. A visa gift card? I never heard of this before. Which airline was it and why couldn't you book it with Chase?

She said I could pick the airline.
I wanted to book one way economy and return business which you can do on any airline but not on most search engines.

Was she offering 1.5 for CSR/1.25 for CSP? Or .01/point?

I didn't get around to asking that (my phone battery died...). That is what I am wondering - she said "You will get the value of your points as a gift card to the airline you want". I have CSR.

When I told her I'll call later, she said that she had marked this down on my account, so that the next Rep would give me the gift card.

Has anyone else encountered higher pricing on flights when logged into a saphire reserve account? I logged into a ink referred and the flights were signifigantely cheaper, making the 1.5 redemption on the CSR worthless...
Can you please post screenshots?
Hotel: NH Collection Budapest City Center
Dates: March 18-19, 4 adults
I'm looking for a 2 bedroom apartment

Chase ink preferred (same with my freedom flex):

Chase sapphire reserve:

The CSR rate is higher. I see it comes with a better cancellation policy, comes with breakfast and allows to earn points with the hotel. but offers much less room options. and I can't get them to book the cheaper room type with the CSR.
Seems to me like they're using 2 different systems with different inventory (cip lists it as a 4 star hotel while the csr lists it as 5 stars) They probably try to offer better benefits for the CSR but also blocks the cheaper options without the benefits.

Is this part of the Luxury Collection or whatever Chase calls its competitor to Amex's FHR?

It's not part of TheEdit

And even if it was, they should still allow me to book the cheaper rate without the extra benefits

I’ve encountered this with a American Airlines flight where both the CSR and ink preferred we’re offering the same class for different pricing… seems like their way to make up for the 1.5 redemption on travel…
