Now that is an idea I'd support. Order in advance edible kosher meals.

They've specifically said they don't have the technical capability to provide that reliably

If it didn't matter EWR-LAX in first it won't matter EWR-LHR in coach.

This is not an if situation but a when situation.

Personally I know many people who aren't price conscious at all but fly coach. I think KSML would make a difference to them. But the amount of people who would actually know in advance is minuscule and biased towards those who won't pay a dime extra

Not eating airline meals is not a hunger strike. And a small local paper picking this up or VIN, even if it would happen would accomplish nothing

I use the term hunger strike with literary license. As I said before we are an insular community and any mention in our media will have immediate effect. You don't think Mr Regal or Mr Borenstien read VIN or get Dans tweets? Or at the least their secretaries, mashgichim etc.

They are accountable for providing an edible meal just as a restaurant is. They should no longer be abe to get away with htis.

My problem isn't with the airlines directly. I have trouble grasping how the KSML providers are getting away with serving old, dry and tasteless crap.

You don't think I talked to the KSML guys? They come to my seminars.
The airlines bid it out and sell to the lowest bidder, that's why the food is junk and always will be junk until the day they cut it completely.

If it didn't matter EWR-LAX in first it won't matter EWR-LHR in coach.

This is not an if situation but a when situation.

I don't profess to know the reason behind that decision, however I'd wager that it must have been due to logistics and not done for cost-cutting.

Instead of being complacent with lack of KSML EWR-LAX and waiting for the other shoe to drop and have KSML scrubbed all together. I suggest you take a stand on this, and be the voice of your readers and followers.

You represent a very large market share of the kosher traveler. We all agree that the situation is far from ideal. We you readers and followers get you where you are today by supporting your links and contributing to these forums.  If anyone can give us a voice it is you, and I may be naive, or disillusioned or even nuts but I think TOGETHER we can make change!

The other SML's look much better, and are always fresh. We all learn how to budget and make do with less. The KSML guys should be no different. I am not asking for steak and wine, all I want is fresh and edible.

Why don't you go start a WTP petition instead of telling me what to do.

Start with that, make some noise. Lets get the word out that as a group we are unhappy with the way things are and demand some change.

Of course you are, you even decided to start another thread to get others to tell me what to do.
I don't run a bully pulpit with an agenda, go to the other jewish-run sites for that.

I believe the KSML is a very important part of your travels. You always include it in your TR's along with pictures and comments. Why are you OK with making a big deal about onion rings at Harbor Grill, and complacent with the quality of the KSML?

Do you really not get it?
I don't fly to eat in a metal tube, I fly to get somewhere nice and hopefully get there rested. An airline's core competency isn't food and that's why airline food is always made fun of. KSMLs aren't the only food made fun of, look at the UA board on FT deriding the regular F food as inedible.
Nobody says, hey I want a meal, how about I go buy an airplane ticket.  It's a holdover perk from a bygone era when airfare was only for the 1% and therefore it included food.
Personally I would rather a double wrapped shnitzel sandwich than anything they're going to come up with.

However I go to Harbour Grill to eat. And for a place that bills itself as a world class restaurant star to sit other parties 4 inches from me and to serve frozen bagged onion is disgraceful. Food, ambiance, and service are all required to be top notch at a world class restaurant.  That's their entire raison d'etre.

Logistics ain't simple. We all know just how good they are at the more basic airline functions.

I understand your premise, where you don't fly to be able to experience a good meal. Nor do I!

However I will draw the line at being denied an edible meal by the KSML providers. If they are being paid to provide a meal, they should be held accountable to ensure it is indeed fit to be served. This is especially true in premium cabins.

I see I am wasting my breath here, so I will lay down my keyboard and resign myself to eating sub-par food when flying US carriers.  However I am a bit surprised that the guys here at the epicenter of Kosher travel aren't  rising up in arms with me.

FTFY

I can't believe that I am the  the only one.

+1. They guy who runs Stogel told me, that the airlines tell him exactly which/how much chicken to put in. They wanted to make Beef and the like.. and the airline declined.

Now the question is, why are the non kosher meals better? Obviously because that would make them loos some revenue... It will be the talk in town if a airline starts serving in F what they serve for the Kosher travelers. But nothing will happen when they serve low class meals for the tiny percent of Kosher travelers.
You can say what you think when you think what you say.
