How does it work with the metal cutlery that come in a KSML? Why are you allowed to use them?

They give you brand new ones.

Interesting. I want to look closer the next time I get a meal - I feel like they have not always looked brand new.

On DL they came sealed inside the KSML tray.

On all of mine as well, but they didn't seem shiny-new IIRC.

They always are.
Which also gets around the toivel issue I'd assume.
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

Cool. And then I guess they wash them and give them to the Non-KSML meals in the future. Perhaps the cost of new cutlery for every meal is part of the reason for the low quality meal product.

I'd assume that the airline carries that cost as the cutlery goes into their inventory afterwards.

I remember reading on the Zohar certificate that they toivel the new cutlery (then it gets used with the rest of the airlines dishes, the airlines must keep adding new cutlery into the pool anyways because of cutlery being lost) that is why it doesn't look spanking new, you can always see fingerprints beside for the fact that they wrap it in a fancy cloth, so somebody touches it many times.

??? Why would they toivel new cutlery?

If the cutlery does not belong to a Jew (stays property of the airline) there is no need to Toivel

regarding toiveling cutlery in KSML, it is not necessary since only cutlery that belongs to a Jew needs to be toiveled! here, the cutlery belongs to the airlines.
Cutlery can be easily kashered, so it makes sense you won't see new cutlery in KSML.
Either new cutlery is delivered straight to the KSML providers or old cutelry is sent to them and they kasher it. As chinaware can't be kashered, i'd assume it's all brand new, again toiveling isn't required as the chinaware doesn't belong to the kosher caterer, rather the airlines

I hope this is the right thread (I guess I could post in Aer Lingus, but seems more appropriate here):

I understand that the "new" J class on EI includes a pre-flight dinner in their BOS lounge (we're flying BOS-DUB).

Does anyone have experience with this, specifically whether I can expect they will obtain KSML for me? (Maybe they would get if from Andrews Catering?  or Milk Street Cafe, instead of airline KSML?  ;D)

UA240.
What a crazy day.
Booked into J to TLV
Dan, what happened to the US flight ? Delayed ? So they routed you via EWR ?
He told us the story tonight by the DO. To make it short us air put him on ua because his cle-phi flight was delayed and was going to miss his connection to tlv.
You'll just have to wait for the TR ;)

We just did, in J. KSML was Borenstein on the way there and Masbia on the way back. I don't have enough experience up front to make too many comparisons. I thought the seat was perfectly adequate but nothing to write home about.
